CDM co-ordinator

CDM co-ordinator

Currie & Brown adopts a multi-faceted and holistic approach to the role of the CDM co-ordinator and the reduction of health and safety risk, since we recognise that accidents and ill health can be caused by a large number of inter-related circumstances. These can be particularly complicated in the design and construction processes.

The CDM co-ordinator’s role requires them to establish a vital “thread” of health and safety from concept to completion of a project. This includes:

  • notifying the Health & Safety Executive;
  • working closely with the design team throughout the design and construction processes to achieve hazard elimination;
  • advising and assisting with regard to management arrangements for health and safety;
  • compiling ‘Pre-construction Information’ for provision to designers and contractors;
  • advising the client with regard to competence and adequacy of resources of those he appoints;
  • advising the client with regard to the adequacy of the ‘Construction Phase Plan’ and welfare provision before works commence on site; and
  • ensuring compilation and delivery of the ‘Health & Safety File’ to the client upon completion.

Complying with CDM Regulations

As an organisation Currie & Brown holds the strong view that responsibility for these issues lies not solely with the CDM co-ordinator but with a team of personnel with varying experience and technical expertise led by a “lead” CDM co-ordinator who will be the single point of contact for the project. It is with the depth and strength of our experience and expertise that we have developed the skills required to ensure compliance with the CDM Regulations for a large number of local, regional and national organisations across a range of industry sectors.

Currie & Brown provides:

  • CDM co-ordinators who have accumulated wide expertise and are singularly functional on each project;
  • an efficient CDM co-ordinator service through established company procedures;
  • integration of health and safety into the project management process for improved planning from the start;
  • professionals from both design and construction disciplines who have first-hand knowledge of the health and safety implications of design decisions;
  • a network of offices around the UK to deliver the expertise and resource of a national company at local level; and
  • an assured commitment and a continually developing CDM co-ordinator resource with the ability to deliver value at all stages of a project lifecycle.
