Currie & Brown supports independent assurance for Network Rail via Project Reset

We have been appointed by Network Rail to support the delivery of Project Reset, a nationwide programme of peer reviews designed to reduce risk and support the delivery of infrastructure projects to keep Britain’s railway moving.

Raising performance across the network

Project Reset will help support Network Rail’s biggest projects to plan and deliver more efficiently through a structured five-day review process. Each review will begin with preparation, followed by structured interviews with the project team and a final report of recommendations.

We will check that every part of the project plan is solid. We will look at the strategy, schedule, costs, and delivery to make sure everything’s ready before work begins. By questioning assumptions and defining roles clearly, we will help support Network Rail in reducing overruns, building accountability, and make results more predictable.

Deploying expertise quickly

Our six-strong team of independent reviewers will rapidly be deployed as Network Rail confirms its review pipeline. By pre-selecting the right specialists, we will make sure expertise is on hand when needed.

Our team includes professionals with deep rail, regulatory and infrastructure experience bringing lessons from elsewhere to strengthen Network Rail’s investment plans.

Challenging siloed thinking, creating certainty

We bring fresh eyes to some complex infrastructure programmes. We check for evidence, use best practice from other sectors, and suggest different ways to deliver. This will help spot risks early and avoid working in silos.

Delivering better journeys

The impact will be felt well beyond the project teams. Our work will help Network Rail in delivering key infrastructure and assets such as new signalling systems, station accessibility and improved passenger facilities as planned which could result in improved performance across the railway.

This keeps Britain’s railway moving and gives millions of passengers the better journeys they rely on.

Will Auton, the project lead at Currie & Brown comments, "We are proud to support Network Rail helping them achieve improved performance across the network. Project Reset is a practical way to improve performance at scale, and our role is to bring the right expertise, challenge and insight to each review."
