Construction Procurement Manager

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a construction procurement manager for our Phoenix, AZ office who meets the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field
  • A minimum of five years' experience in construction procurement management
  • Technical ability to review, negotiate and execute contracts
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex processes and topics
  • Ability to manage and control an annual spend program commensurate with the project
  • Strong skills in building cross-functional relationships
  • Experience in establishing and building successful supplier relationships
  • Demonstrated skill in planning, leading and structuring negotiations
  • Experience in controlling significant direct and indirect spend
  • Expertise in developing risk analysis, total cost analysis and financial modeling
  • Strong change management skills, as well as versatility in responding to change
  • CPM, APICS certification or equivalent preferred
  • Proficiency and experience with advanced strategic procurement methodologies and sourcing approaches and techniques
  • Ability to lead complex projects to completion on time
  • Risk and financial analysis skills and the ability to interpret and utilize key financial data
  • Ability to operate and execute effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and challenging deadlines
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency and proactive approach that is results focused

This position supports the efforts of our Fortune 100 client, an industry leader in the technology sector who has multiple complex construction projects underway, and has asked for our expertise in managing the procurement process and procedural protocol. This opportunity requires specific experience minimizing legal risk by using effective contracting abilities. Specifically using negotiating strategies and tactics with both internal and external customers and suppliers to optimize value.

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Developing an advanced understanding of category subject matters
  • Analyzing category and supplier spend history, trends and forecasts
  • Demonstrating advanced skills in pricing analysis, modeling, purchase price cost analysis and identifying competitive benchmarks
  • Developing collaborative stakeholder relationships by meeting and communicating regularly
  • Demonstrating consultative behaviors with stakeholders so that this is the procurement SPOC for the stakeholder
  • Facilitating and managing cross-functional sourcing initiatives, including buy/rent/outsource
  • Developing detailed supplier knowledge and market data, including financial performance
  • Monitoring key suppliers (earnings calls, SEC filings, RSS feeds, alerts) to provide internal notifications to key stakeholders that includes developing risk mitigation scenarios
  • Developing close, respectful relationships with key supplier executives
  • Ensuring diversity suppliers are included in sourcing events when applicable
  • Implementing and executing a supplier relationship management program
  • Documenting supply-chain for key goods and services
  • Identifying opportunities that focus on cost reductions, efficiencies/quality improvements, risk mitigation, industry and supply trends and shifts in technology
  • Facilitating senior-level review and concurrence on sourcing strategies, including sponsorship and resource allocations
  • Exhibiting and acting with integrity by maintaining compliance with internal policies, procedures and all regulatory and governmental regulations and laws
