Construction Procurement Manager

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a construction procurement manager for our Seattle office who meets the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field
  • A minimum of five years' experience in construction procurement management
  • Familiarity with data center construction
  • Experience procuring capital equipment
  • Able to travel out of state on required job site visits
  • Technical ability to review, negotiate and execute contracts
  • Experience evaluating vendor capabilities covering safety, quality, delivery and cost
  • High-performing with excellent time management skills
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex processes and topics

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Participating in technical due diligence to ensure any new product lines being proposed are fit for purpose
  • Leading compliance, deviation and exception (CDE) reviews with suppliers, engineering and commissioning teams
  • Leading and participating in continuous improvement techniques
  • Ensuring that the technical submittal process is being managed and contributed to promptly by the various stakeholder groups to ensure compliant equipment is being released to manufacturing
  • Attending factory witness testing as appropriate for first-of-its-kind equipment
  • Ensuring the appropriate decision-makers and record-keepers attend and deliver on responsibilities
  • Managing equipment-related contract issues and change orders; reviewing contracts and providing insightful and relevant critique/comments, drawing on SME support from the AE as required to resolve technical issues
  • Coordinating the prompt close-out of root cause analysis reports for any serious equipment defects reported by the install teams
  • Reviewing the documents for proper content and ensuring information is complete, accurate and issued in a timely manner
  • Evaluating service provider performance against contract metrics
  • Mitigating contract disputes and providing oversight, guidance and technical expertise to contractors
  • Reviewing existing contracts to ensure the contract rights and obligations are being properly administered
