Electrical Estimator

Currie & Brown is currently looking for an MEP estimator for our location in Malta, NY who meets the following requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree, preferably in a related technical field
  • A minimum of five years' experience including a substantial track record of working on engineering and construction projects in federal government (especially government labs), industrial and commercial sectors
  • Professional accreditation, eg RICS, ASPE, AACEI or equivalent, or the ability to obtain accreditation within two years
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotech or related manufacturing technological industries is beneficial
  • Knowledge of all aspects of cost management and technical knowledge in specific areas
  • Experience in advising clients on value management, value engineering and lifecycle costing
  • Experience with business development and cross-selling is preferable
  • Experience with MEP estimating and construction management is preferable
  • Estimating experience in civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, process and plumbing is an advantage
  • Able to self-manage, requiring minimum supervision
  • Good time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation skills, able to chair and run meetings if required
  • Strong computer skills required, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Office and Projects
  • Knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff, or similar software, is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of seniority
  • Highly flexible and innovative
  • Good organizational skills, able to multi-task and be a team player
  • Able to pass a background check

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Undertaking responsibility for the MV and LV electrical, I&C, security, and telecommunications estimating and cost management function for assigned projects, including benchmarking, cost control and cost reporting
  • Providing cost and direction to the project director on assigned projects
  • Supporting procurement, value engineering, LEED analysis and lifecycle cost studies
  • Attending change order meetings and assisting the project director in validating and pricing the changes across multiple trade specialties
  • Participating in the review of estimates for completeness and accuracy
  • Supporting the preparation of project cash flows, staffing and progress curves
  • Supporting the training and/or mentoring of junior staff
  • Undertaking relevant duties as assigned by management
