Estimator

Currie & Brown is currently looking for an estimator for our office in Princeton, NJ who meets the following requirements:

  • A minimum of five years' experience, including a substantial track record of working on engineering and construction projects in the commercial, retail and transportation sectors
  • Membership of a relevant professional organization, eg RICS, ASPE, AACEI, is preferred
  • Experience in conceptual design phase estimating and change order estimating
  • Knowledge of all aspects of cost management, and technical knowledge in specific areas
  • Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering and lifecycle costing
  • Good time management, communication and interpersonal skills, with an appreciation of the challenges involved in working within a client's office environment
  • Dynamic candidate who is looking to grow and keen to take initiative
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft tools
  • Strong presentation skills, able to chair and run scope and estimate review meetings if required
  • Able to self-manage, requiring minimum supervision

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Undertaking responsibility for the estimating and cost management function for assigned projects, including benchmarking, cost control and cost reporting
  • Providing cost and direction to the client's project management team on assigned projects
  • Supporting procurement, value engineering, LEED analysis and lifecycle cost studies
  • Providing multidisciplinary estimation of all building elements, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and related building services
  • Undertaking responsibility for maintaining the accurate current project cost status on a weekly basis
  • Attending change order meetings and assisting the project manager in validating and pricing the changes across multiple trade specialties
  • Participating in the review of estimates for completeness and accuracy
  • Supporting the preparation of project cash flows, staffing and progress curves
  • Supporting the training/mentoring of junior staff
  • Handling relevant ad-hoc duties as assigned by management
