Project Controls Engineer - Los Angeles, CA

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a project controls engineer to be based in Los Angeles who meets the following requirements:

  • Candidate will be self-managing and require minimum supervision
  • Good time management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Project) and an ERP (SAP, Oracle, etc)
  • Desire to lead, mentor and develop a successful team
  • A minimum of seven years' experience, including time in a managerial role
  • Experience as a quantity surveyor is a plus
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field is preferable

The successful candidate will support an industry leader in the life sciences sector who has multiple complex construction projects under way, and has asked for our expertise in managing the construction project controls for both new and ongoing construction initiatives.

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Project estimating and cost engineering
  • Supporting RFP responses, forecasting resources needed for proposals, preparing proposals and leading negotiations
  • Supporting client account management, monthly invoicing and purchase order management
  • Preparing and leading project cost estimates through the various stages of project development using past experience, historical data and parametric ratios
  • Documenting and communicating estimate details to internal and external stakeholders including delivering presentations
  • Participating in business development and management of new projects
  • Establishing new and maintaining existing estimating tools, methods and databases used to produce project estimates
  • Participating in industry benchmarking of project metrics
  • Assisting with the preparation of project funding documents
  • Developing strategies and negotiating pricing for scope of work for contractors/suppliers
  • Reviewing and analyzing contractor/supplier bids, change notices, costs
  • Evaluating contractor/supplier progress of work
  • Managing and monitoring project schedules
  • Developing and managing cash flow
  • Administrating the closeout of contracts and purchase orders
  • Preparing monthly project status reports for management
  • Leading risk analysis reviews and managing risk model
  • Preparing owner estimates and leading estimate review meetings
