Project Controls Engineer - San Francisco, CA

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a project controls engineer for our location in San Francisco, CA who meets the following requirements:

  • Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in civil engineering, cost management or construction management and a minimum of one year's experience in a related occupation, OR
  • Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in civil engineering, cost management or construction management and a minimum of five years' experience in a related occupation
  • Work experience or academic coursework must have included experience in project estimating, cost engineering and quantity surveying; experience forecasting resources needed for projects; preparing RFPs; and leading negotiations with clients
  • Knowledge of Unifier, SAP and Microsoft Suite, including MS Word, Excel and Project

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Applying knowledge of project estimation, cost engineering and quantity surveying to manage and support construction projects
  • Participating in business development and management of new projects for cost consulting
  • Evaluating the needs of the client and developing RFP responses
  • Forecasting resources needed for proposals, preparing proposals and leading negotiations
  • Supporting client account management, monthly invoicing and purchase order management
  • Preparing and leading project cost estimates through the various stages of project development using experience, historical data, and parametric ratios
  • Documenting estimates and preparing presentations to communicate estimate details to internal and external stakeholders
  • Establishing new and maintaining existing estimating tools, methods and databases used to produce project estimates
  • Participating in industry benchmarking of project metrics
  • Providing reports to the client's vice-president and chief financial officer
  • Training new hires in operational processes and project controls
