Senior Estimator

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a senior estimator for our location in Jersey City, NJ who meets the following requirements:

  • A minimum of ten years' experience
  • Substantial track record of working on engineering and construction projects in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, biotech or related manufacturing technological industries
  • Member of a relevant professional organization, eg RICS, ASPE, AACEI (CEP) or equivalent
  • Strong experience with CSA, heavy civils estimating and construction management is preferred
  • Knowledge of all aspects of cost management, and technical knowledge in specific areas
  • Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering and lifecycle costing
  • Experience with business development and cross-selling is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate across all levels of seniority
  • Strong computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and Projects
  • Good organization skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • Able to self-manage, requiring minimum supervision
  • Good time management, communication and interpersonal skills, with an appreciation of challenges involved when working within a client's office environment
  • Strong presentation skills, able to chair and run scope and estimate review meetings if required

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Undertaking responsibility for the estimating and cost management function for assigned projects, including benchmarking, cost control and cost reporting
  • Providing cost and direction to the client's project management team on assigned projects
  • Supporting procurement, value engineering, LEED analysis and lifecycle cost studies
  • Providing multidisciplinary estimation of all building elements, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and related building services
  • Undertaking responsibility for maintaining the accurate current project cost status on a weekly basis
  • Attending change order meetings and assisting the project manager in validating and pricing the changes across multiple trade specialties
  • Participating in the review of estimates for completeness and accuracy
  • Supporting the preparation of project cash flows, staffing and progress curves
  • Supporting the training/mentoring of junior staff
  • Handling relevant ad-hoc duties as assigned by management
