Senior Project Controls Engineer

Currie & Brown is currently looking for a senior project controls engineer for our San Francisco office who meets the following requirements:

  • A minimum of ten years' capital project management experience
  • Biopharmaceutical experience is an advantage
  • BS in engineering/construction management or equivalent
  • Professional certification in cost control, eg CCC/CCE, or scheduling (PSP)
  • Strong knowledge and experience in various aspects of project controls, planning/scheduling, progress measurement and forecasting/reporting
  • Good interpersonal, collaboration, organization and prioritization skills
  • Self-directed with ability to execute work accurately, handle multiple priorities and analyze reports and trend activities

The successful candidate will report to the project controls manager and ensure compliance to project controls procedures and process regarding cost, schedule and change management.

Responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:

  • Developing and maintaining project cost in CONTROL (cost management tool) in accordance with control account guidelines
  • Providing project cost data and supporting documentation
  • Performing reconciliation of cost data from local accounting system (SAP) to the projects controls system of record (ie CONTROL)
  • Providing actual cost data from local accounting system (SAP)
  • Ensuring that actual data figures in local accounting system (SAP) are project-related and coded accurately
  • Supporting the project controls manager on all levels of cost reporting and forecasting
  • Supporting the project controls manager on all levels of negotiation and validation of GMP contracts and change order in conjunction with procurement
  • Developing reports on actuals, variances, trends and reforecasting as necessary
  • Ensuring proper change management throughout the project phases
  • Developing and maintaining detailed cash flow and commitment flow throughout the project phases
  • Assisting the project team in preparing and managing credit applications throughout the funding phases
  • Participating in the value engineering process
  • Keeping and effectively utilizing historical records of project costs
  • Analyzing change orders for cost impact
  • Performing bid cost comparisons for proposal review teams
  • Providing cost and schedule impacts associated with identified risks
  • Reviewing and validating contractual compliance of project invoices
  • Developing and ensuring the recording of the project's historical cost information and lessons learned for future use
  • Developing, maintaining and tracking master schedule in P6 in accordance with the WBS guidelines; integrating vendor schedules into master schedule; and ensuring sufficient level of detail, resource loading as well as appropriate earned value analysis
  • Scheduling analysis with respect to critical path analysis and float analysis, and proposing mitigation plans
  • Developing customized schedule reports as per project needs, eg two weeks look-ahead, variance reports, progress reports, milestone reports, etc as needed
