Callum Lynch Assistant Cost Consultant, UK
I graduated from Loughborough University in the summer of 2018 with a degree in geography and business management. As my dad is a quantity surveyor, I’ve been around construction and surveying my whole life. His career always interested me, so, despite my choice of degree, I felt construction was an industry I would both enjoy and do well in.
I chose Currie & Brown because of the variety of projects on offer within the company. I felt that this, coupled with the global aspect of the firm, meant I would be able to grow and develop. The support through the quantity surveying master’s degree and on the APC programme is incredible and allows me to continually learn throughout my time here.
Currie & Brown has helped to further my knowledge and understanding of the construction process, and director Simon Offredy constantly reminds me that there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
Being part of the infrastructure team has its challenges. The high volume of work and often short time frames can be particularly stressful, and I’ve had to learn quickly on the job, so I can add value to the projects and work independently.
My goal is to finish my master’s and pass my APC to become chartered. Once successful, I hope to have a larger involvement in key projects, confidently leading some of my own.
