Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts reopens following extensive refurbishment programme
16 December 2016
Currie & Brown is currently completing the final phase of works on Lighthouse, Poole’s Centre for the Arts, a creative organisation and an iconic building that plays an integral part in the delivery of Poole’s arts strategy.
Lighthouse reopened in October 2016 following an extensive £5.3 million refurbishment, for which Currie & Brown provided project management, quantity surveying and principal designer services. The programme of works has delivered a number of key changes for Lighthouse, including new education and rehearsal spaces, a green room, improved acoustics, air cooling and plumbing throughout the building.
"As we look forward to the centre's 40th birthday in 2018, the investment in the future of this magnificent building will pay instant dividends by enabling us to develop our programme to respond to both our community and the theatre sector nationally," commented Elspeth McBain, chief executive.
Chris Timlin, project director based in Currie & Brown's Exeter office, agreed: "We are delighted to support Poole's cultural centre of excellence for live performance and visual arts. Lighthouse is at the heart of the town's leisure offerings."
