Currie & Brown has been appointed by Bournemouth University, through the South West Consultancy Framework, to provide quantity surveying services on the Bournemouth Gateway Building (BGB) at its Lansdowne Campus.
In addition, Currie & Brown has been appointed to provide technical consultancy services including NEC project manager, NEC supervisor, health and safety advisor, technical audit and commissioning manager.
The BGB will be built next to the St Paul’s roundabout on the Wessex Way and will provide a strong visual gateway into the university’s Lansdowne campus. The seven-storey building will offer approximately 10,000m² of academic facilities for the renowned Faculty of Health and Social Sciences as well as social learning facilities and support services accommodation.
Building work is due to start on site at the beginning of October 2017, with the property expected to be operational by late 2019. This landmark academic building will be developed using BIM, and seeks to achieve BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and an EPC rating of A.
Project lead and regional director, David Morris, stated: "We are continuing to work closely with Bournemouth University, the contractor and the design team to consolidate the faculty’s accommodation and deliver this state-of-the-art academic facility for students, staff and the wider community."
