Currie & Brown delivers ‘super casino’ in Leeds
1 May 2017
Currie & Brown UK has partnered with Global Gaming Ventures (GGV), Fuse Studios and Hammerson to deliver the spectacular Victoria Gate Casino in Leeds.
The 'super casino', which has created over 200 jobs in the region, is arranged over three levels above a retail arcade and has 50,000ft2 of floor space. The venue incorporates two bars and a restaurant along with its 24 gaming tables, 140 slots and 100-seat poker area.
Currie & Brown provided principal designer and cost advisory services on the £30 million scheme, which opened to the public at the end of January. Victoria Gate, while being staffed by people from the city, was designed to attract a wide cross-section of customers from the region and beyond, with guests able to enjoy the bars and restaurants as standalone venues.
Project director John Nicholson, who is based in Currie & Brown's Leeds office, commented: "Victoria Gate is already living up to its 'super casino' label! GGV indicated from the beginning that they wanted it to be the best casino in the UK, and we are delighted to have played a part in bringing this development to fruition."
