29 October 2018
The Advanced Manufacturing Building at the University of Nottingham has won the design excellence award at the East Midlands Property Dinner. Currie & Brown provided cost consultancy and risk management services for the new, state-of-the-art, 9,011m2 training and research facility, located on the university’s Jubilee campus.
The new building is an expansion of the Faculty of Engineering, creating laboratories, teaching spaces, modern workshops and offices for research activities, including nano-scale production, robotics and large-scale aerospace demonstrator components. The facility will focus on the manufacturing future of the UK with its high-tech and advanced 3D printing and robotics-focused research.
Designed to perform to the highest lifecycle standards to reduce maintenance costs, the project achieved EPC B and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ ratings.
Jason Scott, associate director at Currie & Brown, said: “We are delighted that the Advanced Manufacturing Building won this award, recognising the positive impact it has had on a major gateway into Nottingham. Currie & Brown enjoyed working on the project, and we are looking forward to seeing the new state-of-the-art facilities pioneering the future of manufacturing in the UK.”
