Currie & Brown collaborates with sister companies to build new London home

Dar Group, Currie & Brown’s parent company, is to build a new 185,000ft2 mixed-use scheme at 150 Holborn to bring its subsidiaries - Currie & Brown, Perkins + Will, Elementa, IPA Advisory, Penspen and Maffeis - under one roof.

The new nine-storey landmark HQ, which has full planning permission and mayoral approval, will replace a current 1980s office block and incorporates ground floor retail and an adjacent residential block comprising 13 apartments. The building has been designed to bring together and encourage collaboration and the exchange of ideas between the group’s member companies.

The design will connect and contextually link 150 Holborn to its surroundings, while providing the building with its own distinctive identity so that it acts as a landmark for the burgeoning ‘midtown’ neighbourhood. On the inside, the central hub of the building is formed around a feature staircase to the atrium with four scenic lifts and a full-sized roof terrace.

Having recently moved its London staff into nearby 40 Holborn Viaduct, Currie & Brown is providing a variety of cost management and project management services on the project.

Paul Graham, director at Currie & Brown, explained: “Currie & Brown is very proud to be working with our sister companies to deliver this project. The new building will act as a significant landmark for the local area and will push the boundaries of sustainable design.”

The project has several sustainability targets including BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating, LEED Platinum and SKA Gold. It will also deliver a computer-aided facility management (CAFM) system that is fully integrated with the BIM model.
