New Abbeyfield care home in Malmesbury reaches completion

Burnham Court, a new Abbeyfield care home in Malmesbury, is now complete. Currie & Brown provided both pre- and post-contract cost management services on the project under a design and build contract.

The project involved developing 49 new ‘independent living with care’ apartments with fitted kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms and dining areas for the Abbeyfield Society. The rest of the build included assisted bathing facilities, an activity room, quiet rooms, main lounge, main dining area, hair salon and a fresh food commercial kitchen.

Anthea McDermott, senior cost consultant at Currie & Brown, said: “The new care home will provide 24-hour care for residents and offer a wide range of facilities and activities for residents. It was a pleasure to work with Abbeyfield on this project, and we look forward to seeing the services being enjoyed by the residents.”

Sam Tabiner, head of development (west) at Abbeyfield, commented: “We are delighted to expand our service offering in Malmesbury. Burnham Court will allow residents to retain their independence, while having the option of personal assistance and care in their own home.”
