University Arms Hotel Cambridge project reaches completion

The refurbishment of the historic University Arms Hotel in Cambridge has reached practical completion and officially opened to guests on 1 August. The iconic hotel, which first opened in 1834, is located in the city centre overlooking Parker’s Piece Green with scenic views of the city.

Currie & Brown provided project management services on the project, which was procured on a JCT Design and Build Contract.

The main objective of the refurbishment project was to unite the building into one cohesive unit while maintaining the innovative history that is associated with the building and ensuring that the hotel matched the city’s heart and style.

The 192-key hotel features a luxury gym, library and underground valet parking. The front entrance of the hotel has been pushed back from the street, allowing more room for pedestrians to walk past.

Samantha Marsh, project manager at Currie & Brown, commented: “We are delighted with the end result of this project. We thoroughly enjoyed working closely with the client and other consultants on this project to help ensure the hotel retained its traditional feel, and we look forward to seeing guests enjoy the updated facilities.”
