Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex opens

The new Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex in Northern Ireland has officially opened. Currie & Brown provided cost management, project management and principal designer services on the project for Ards and North Down Borough Council.

The new centre is home to a variety of advanced leisure amenities including a 110-station gym and two dance studios along with a free cycling studio; a luxury spa with a vitality pool; a six lane main pool; a minor pool; a splash play area for toddlers and young children; a six-court sports hall; an indoor soft play area; a linked dome structure containing three five-a-side pitches and a unique Blacklight adventure zone comprising golf, climbing walls and an overhead climbing ropes structure, as well as a new 100-seat café.

Externally there is an adventure playground with a sensory garden, a skateboard area and a pump track.

The project included the advanced enabling works for a road realignment, a new roundabout, utility updates and the construction of a new entrance road for the new leisure complex.

Colm O’Hagan, a Currie & Brown associate, explained: “The new wellbeing and leisure complex will focus on sports development activities for schools and the local community. We are delighted with the outcome and are proud to have worked with Ards and North Down Borough Council to help deliver the project.”
