Currie & Brown appointed as independent tester for new development at University of Brighton

Currie & Brown has been appointed by the University of Brighton as independent tester for their new student accommodation project. The university is redeveloping a car park into 804 student bedrooms with a students’ union and gym facility.

The new accommodation will consist of five towers ranging from 9 storeys to 18 storeys. The towers will comprise eight-bed clusters per floor, with the students’ union and gymnasium at ground level. A landscaped terrace will also be created in the plaza area and rear of the buildings, and there will be a feature bridge over the plaza to link the student towers with a landscaped podium. New steps will lead from the plaza to Mithras House.

Richard Cairnes, director at Currie & Brown, said: “This project is part of the university’s wider redevelopment programme, providing over 1,300 student bedrooms and improved facilities. Currie & Brown is delighted to be working on the project, which will help contribute to Brighton’s economy as well as improving the university experience for students."
