Currie & Brown appointed on Derriford Hospital emergency department reconfiguration project

University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust has appointed Currie & Brown to provide cost advisory, NEC project management and NEC supervisor services for the Derriford Hospital emergency department reconfiguration project, which falls under stages 1-5 of the trust’s Procure22 framework.

Derriford Hospital is the largest hospital in the south-west peninsula, offering general hospital services to approximately 450,000 people. The emergency department provides secondary care emergency treatment to patients, and hosts the peninsula-designated adult major trauma centre, serving a population of two million.

The aim of the project is to extend and refurbish the emergency department to allow it to meet the increasing number of patients over the next 25 years.

Myles Clough, director at Currie & Brown, said: “This reconfiguration is needed in order to meet future demand. Currie & Brown is proud to be providing a range of services on the project, which will benefit many people in the south-west region by modernising the department and providing a single point of access for urgent and emergency care.”
