Currie & Brown delivers new MRI scanner to University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust

Currie & Brown’s Plymouth office has delivered a new modular MRI scanner to University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP).

This forms the first phase of a suite of MRI projects at the hospital, with Currie & Brown providing project management, cost management and contract administration services. The team will also be working with the trust in the development stage of the proposed 3t MRI facility, scheduled to commence on site later in the year.

In co-ordination with Emergency Air Ambulance operations, the twin modular units, which were fabricated in the Netherlands and installed with a scanner from Philips UK, were lifted into position on their new base in Derriford by a 400-tonne crane. When the project goes live in June, it will facilitate improved scanning and patient treatment at UHP NHS Trust Derriford.

Commenting on the news, Philip Jailler, associate at Currie & Brown, said: “The delivery of the MRI scanner, is a significant project milestone and forms part of our ongoing work with University Hospital Plymouth NHS Trust.”
