Currie & Brown to provide services for Priest’s House Museum refurbishment
30 September 2019
Currie & Brown has been appointed by the Priest’s House Museum Trust to provide cost management and principal designer services for the refurbishment of Priest’s House Museum in Wimborne, Dorset. Located in the Wimborne Town Conservation Area, the museum is a historic Grade II-listed town house of special architectural interest.
A successful Heritage Lottery Fund application in 2012 allowed the trust to build a timber-framed building in the grounds of the museum, which now houses collection stores, a multi-functional learning space, tearoom and visitor facilities.
The trust is now undertaking Phase 2, which involves re-ordering the museum building and refreshing the existing galleries, as well as developing new galleries and creating a library and publicly accessible archive. The entrance to the museum will be enhanced with a new visitor entry point, and wheelchair access will be improved.
Commenting on the development Chris Timlin, director at Currie & Brown, said: “This project, which will focus on the building’s original fabric, is an exciting project for Currie & Brown to work on. We look forward to playing our role in reinterpreting the whole museum.”
