Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon reaches practical completion

The redevelopment of the Museum of Barnstaple and North Devon has reached practical completion. North Devon Council appointed Currie & Brown to deliver project management and quantity surveying services on the project.

A new entrance to the museum, a social gallery, temporary exhibition gallery and an education/learning room have been created. Currie & Brown has worked with the museum’s curator since the project’s inception and assisted with the round one and round two funding applications to the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The construction consultancy also assisted with the funding application to the Coastal Communities Fund.

Myles Clough, director at Currie & Brown, explained: “Barnstaple Museum contains collections about the people and landscapes of North Devon. This has been an exciting, yet challenging, project to work on because of the listed status of the building. We are delighted that it will soon reopen to the public, so they can enjoy the new gallery and rooms.”
