Currie & Brown providing quantity surveying services for Finsbury Circus Pavilion

The City of London Corporation has engaged Currie & Brown to provide quantity surveying services on the refurbishment and landscaping of Finsbury Circus Gardens.

Finsbury Circus Gardens, established in 1606, was London’s first park and is the City’s largest open space. The 2,200m² park has been inaccessible for the last ten years, while Crossrail created an access shaft for the construction of the underground tunnels beneath it. Following the completion of Crossrail’s work in the Grade II-listed gardens, the City of London Corporation launched an architectural competition to redesign the centre of the park, including a new pavilion.

To enable Crossrail to carry out the works, the bowling green had to be removed, along with the historic water fountain, which has been placed in storage and will be reinstated as part of the refurbishment.

The services that Currie & Brown is providing on the project include a feasibility study; project cost management; value engineering; pre- and post-contract cost management; advice on procurement, contract administration and documentation; benchmarking and efficiency studies; tender document preparation; change control; and a lessons learnt workshop.

Project management services will be provided by Potter Raper, with engineering solutions supplied by XCO2, and structural engineering by Engenuiti. The project comprises a refreshment pavilion and accompanying landscape suitable for the recreation and enjoyment of the public. The project aims to achieve BREEAM certification and is scheduled for completion early 2023.
