Currie & Brown supports Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust’s health infrastructure plan

Currie & Brown was engaged by Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Trust to draft the strategic outline case for the HIP2 programme, the hospital’s future health infrastructure plan.

The HIP programme is for the development of a new women and children’s hospital, bringing obstetric and paediatric services together under one roof, and a new surgery centre to provide additional theatre, inpatient ward, day surgery and outpatients facility. An intermediate care centre will also be created, providing dedicated facilities for elderly patients. The development will cover around 26,000m2.

The programme is driven by the need to provide additional beds and increase theatre capacity to accommodate a significant planned increase in the city’s population. The timescale for delivery of the project is tight, with the new facilities scheduled to be operational by 2025.

Currie & Brown’s team led the development of the strategic outline case (SOC), providing healthcare planning, digital strategy and financial advice. The team also project managed the design team including architects, mechanical and engineering consultants, and planning advisors.

The SOC was approved at Trust Board on 5 November, signifying an important milestone in the progression of the programme.

Martin Clark, director at Currie & Brown, commented: “We are very pleased to be involved in the exciting HIP2 programme at Milton Keynes, supporting them in the delivery of their clinical and estate strategy to meet the needs of the local population.”

Chris Todd, who is programme director – strategic estates for the hospital, added: “We are delighted to have Currie & Brown on board to support us with the development of the HIP2 programme. Following the approval of the SOC by Trust Board, we are excited to see this project move into the next phase of development.”
