Birmingham NHS Trust appoints Currie & Brown to cost manage demolition works

Currie & Brown has been engaged by the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust to provide cost advice and project management on the demolition of Norton Court and a former dental hospital in Birmingham.

Appointed via the ProCure22 framework, Currie & Brown will assess the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) to ensure value for money, provide pre-contract advice, and help the trust with the financial aspects of the construction project, including providing support with business cases. Valuing change events and checking monthly valuations also form part of the remit.

The principal supply chain partner for the work is Interserve, and Armac will carry out the demolition works. It is anticipated that the project will complete in autumn 2021.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Felton, senior director in Currie & Brown’s Birmingham office, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed via the ProCure22 framework to manage the demolition of these buildings within functional hospital sites.”
