Currie & Brown appoints Andrew Crawley as MEP director

Andrew Crawley joins the London office as the company’s dedicated head of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) consultancy services.

Andrew joins Currie & Brown from the transportation team at Faithful+Gould. In this role he supported Network Rail’s Operational Programme Delivery with the deployment of digital train control and train service management solutions into the UK railway network.

With further experience gained through working at Lendlease, Sir Robert McAlpine and Transport for London, Andrew has developed wide experience of delivering complex construction and infrastructure contracts over the past 20 years.

Andrew has a keen interest in sustainable development and how MEP technologies support the sustainable development agenda, aligning with one of Currie & Brown’s own core values.

Andrew champions support of vocational routes into the construction industry, and has experience of developing apprentice standards and a quantity surveying apprenticeship scheme. He is particularly interested in the career development of surveyors into chartered surveyors, and he works on behalf of the RICS as an assessor, chair and appeals panel member to deliver the assessment of professional competence (APC) to candidates. Andrew is keen to share this valuable experience to support Currie & Brown candidates sitting their final assessment to qualify as chartered quantity surveyors.

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew said: “I’m excited to join Currie & Brown and look forward to helping to drive collaboration, integration and growth in our MEP cost consultancy services. With the impact of the climate crisis becoming more pronounced and the world coming out of the pandemic, we need buildings that reflect this backdrop, providing safe and comfortable spaces for end users, without being at the expense of a negative carbon footprint or excessive capital or operating expenditure.”

David Hobbs, senior director in Currie & Brown’s London office, added: “We are delighted to welcome Andrew to the team in London, leading our strong and varied MEP offering and continuing to drive growth across the sector.”
