Upgrade of Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium now complete

Currie & Brown provided quantity surveying services on the upgrade and expansion of the stadium, which was completed in the first quarter of 2021.

The AU$19 million project by Latrobe City Council saw the stadium undergo major redevelopment and expansion to allow the centre to host major sporting events and to cater for netball, basketball, badminton and other indoor sports at regional, national and international levels.

Funded by the Victoria government’s AU$85 million package of sports programmes and infrastructure for the Latrobe Valley, the new facilities include four additional high-ball courts, a show court with provision for 3,000 retractable seats, additional office space, meeting rooms, café, entrance foyer, player and referee amenities and additional car parking.

Commenting on the completion of the project, Mike Cox, national director in Currie & Brown’s Melbourne office, said: “Currie & Brown’s quantity surveying team was appointed for the duration of the entire project, from schematic and detailed design development through tender documentation, tender evaluation and eventual construction. We are delighted the project is now complete and open for use by the sporting community.”
