Work completes on Federation University building refurb

Currie & Brown was engaged by Federation University Australia to provide quantity surveying services on the refurbishment of building 4N on its Gippsland Campus in Churchill, Victoria.

The university’s ambitions were to expand its course offering and to introduce speciality teaching facilities to enhance the student experience. In line with this, the university’s 4N former printery building underwent renovation, converting interior spaces to be better suited to occupational therapy, physiotherapy and anatomy programmes. The continued development of the campus will allow the university to meet current and future student demand.

Currie & Brown’s Melbourne team provided pre-tender estimates and cost plans throughout the various phases of the project, and reviewed contractor submissions. The team also assisted the superintendent with preparing monthly valuations during construction, reviewing contract variations, monitoring project costs throughout the project and assisting with developing corrective actions to achieve delivery of the project to budget.

Commenting on the completed works, Mike Cox, director in Currie & Brown’s Melbourne office, said: “As Federation University continues to grow across the south of Australia, we are very pleased to have been able to contribute to the works at Gippsland Campus, enabling students and staff to benefit from an up-to-date and contemporary environment.”
