Work well underway on redevelopment of Crewe centre

Currie & Brown is providing client-side quantity surveying advisory services to Cheshire East Council on a range of projects in its Crewe town centre regeneration programme.

In September, planning consent was secured for the Royal Arcade redevelopment, the centrepiece of the council’s regeneration programme and a joint venture with Peveril Securities. The scheme will redevelop the current offering into a vibrant and engaging leisure and retail location to attract visitors during the day and into the evening.

At the heart of the development is a state-of-the-art, 12-stand bus interchange, surrounded by a 400+ space multistorey car park with direct access to retail and leisure facilities, including an eight-screen cinema complex and bowling alley, new retail units, gym space and public realm works.

Commenting on the project, David Hirst, director in Currie & Brown’s Manchester office, said: “Working closely with Cheshire East Council, we have been able to understand the client’s requirements and needs to bring together the whole town centre regeneration, including the recently remodelled Crewe Market Hall, allowing us to provide the best advice possible.”
