Castlebrae Community Campus achieves completion

The recently completed replacement Castlebrae Community Campus has been handed over to the City of Edinburgh.

Currie & Brown provided project management and principal designer services on the £28 million replacement high school project, which is being delivered by the City of Edinburgh in partnership with hub South East.

The brand-new 700-capacity secondary school, which has the potential to be increased to 1,200, has been built in the heart of Craigmillar, next to the East Neighbourhood Centre and Library to support the significant housing developments planned for the area, which are likely to result in increasing need for school places. The new school incorporates a 3G football pitch and a new town square.

Other members of the project team included JMA, Ramboll, Morrison Construction, Wardell Armstrong, Doig+Smith and Woolgar Hunter.

Tim Dixon, associate director in Currie & Brown’s Edinburgh office, commented: “It has been fantastic to have worked with such a talented and passionate project team, and we are delighted to see this new community enhancing facility being used following the recent successful handover. I am sure that the new facility will be of great benefit to the local community both now and in the years to come.”
