Ian Smith appointed as new lead for Currie & Brown’s Plymouth office

Currie & Brown has appointed Ian Smith to lead its Plymouth office, taking responsibility for all day-to-day operations and acting as the main point of contact for Currie & Brown in the city.
Ian succeeds Adam Ferguson, who has been promoted to Operations Director covering the Exeter and Southwest Peninsula.
Ian joins Currie & Brown after 13 years at Ward Williams Associates where he led teams delivering Cost Management, Project Management and Contract Administration across a wide variety of sectors including Defence, Healthcare, Leisure, Residential and Retail. Ian has worked closely with a range of clients including Babcock International, Plymouth City Council, University of Plymouth, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, and Newcross Healthcare Solutions.
Combining clear communication and contractual rigour with simplicity of reporting and an approachable manner, Ian has a record of successful project delivery over a 25-year career fostering effective stakeholder relationships for both small local practices and international consultancies. Ian’s previous project experience has ranged from local housing association developments to the commercial management of significant elements of Media City in Salford, plus a number of key projects including a 2-year secondment into Devonport Dockyard; Ivybridge, Tavistock, Kingsbridge and Canterbury Leisure Centre refurbishments; Ocean Studios, Royal William Yard and Green Tree Court care homes and various marine laboratory refurbishments.
