Keeping the Environment Agency’s largest ever flood alleviation project on track
UK
The project comprised the construction of a new arrivals hall and tunnel as part of the second phase of the Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal 1 refurbishment project.
The first phase of the project included improving the public areas within the existing departures and arrivals halls, refurbishing the retail provisions and upgrading the business and first class lounges. The main purpose of the new arrivals hall and tunnel is to deliver a high level of service to arriving passengers by providing adequate space for passenger arrivals, commercial offerings and convenient access to ground transportation services.
The project consisted of a new vertical core between the existing passenger greeting area on the departures level and a new tunnel leading to the arrivals hall building on the lower level roadway. The vertical core includes three large-capacity elevators, two moving walkways and a stairway. The tunnel is 7.7 metres long with an interior clear height of 3.2 metres. The arrivals hall building is approximately 2,360m² and includes commercial offerings, ground transportation services, restrooms and prayer rooms.
Currie & Brown was selected to provide cost management services for the project.
Our involvement ensured that the project stayed within the client’s budget. We priced the proposed project documents and benchmarked the preferred contractor's tender return.
