Ashford Designer Outlet extension
Currie & Brown is appointed to provide quantity surveying services on McArthurGlen’s iconic 100,000ft² extension development, which will add 38 new luxury and premium brands to the existing 80 names, to create one of the UK’s flagship designer outlets.
McArthurGlen is also planning to install six new restaurants and cafes in the centre together with a new events space and children’s play area. A new car park to provide 725 more parking spaces will also be built. The extension will see Europe’s ‘largest green wall’ built, to reflect the centre’s location in Kent, the Garden of England. The façade of many of the stores in the new extension will feature tens of thousands of plants, all stacked vertically.
Due to open in 2018, the centre is within walking distance of Ashford International rail station in Kent and just a 37-minute train ride from London. McArthurGlen has also committed to Ashford Borough Council that it will fund a shuttle bus linking the outlet, the town centre and the international train station at weekends and during the school holidays, along with providing funds for the enhancement of pedestrian and cycle routes from the station.
