New South Glasgow Hospitals
The second phase of the Acute Services Strategy for all of Greater Glasgow and Clyde included a new adult acute hospital with 1,100 beds, a children’s hospital with 240 beds and laboratory, service and facilities management provisions. This major inpatient development followed the first stage of the strategy, which provided two ambulatory care and diagnostic hospitals.
The goal of the hospital development is to successfully deliver patient-focused facilities that meet future needs, public expectations and the operational requirements of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
Currie & Brown delivered technical advisor services from inception to completion. Our team worked in partnership with the Board and Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates on all aspects of the project.
We contributed to the success of the project by creating clear and comprehensive employer's requirements, which ensured a productive, competitive dialogue process and the acceptance of a design that was universally considered to meet high standards and provide the best value for money.
We developed an innovative two-stage procurement strategy that allowed us to ensure at each of the agreed gateway stages that a thorough audit trail was compiled and, as the project was delivered, that requirements and outcomes were monitored and achieved in line with the project scope.
Our highly motivated and committed team integrated well with all the stakeholders. Through our experience and capabilities, backed by our business management system procedures, we provided a consistently efficient service. Being highly experienced in all aspects of construction and procurement, we were able to constructively challenge legal and financial advisors and the contractor, while engaging openly with the stakeholders.
