Phase 2 hangar and ground support facility development
The scheme comprises the construction of a 12,500m² three-bay aircraft maintenance hangar, 2,500m² ground support facility together with 50,000m² of apron replacement with associated airfield ground lighting.
A particular feature of the project is the undulating roof that provides the airport with its cutting-edge image while providing a cost-effective solution.
This repeat commission entails Currie & Brown providing cost management and principal designer services to the TAG construction management team, which includes procurement and site management of up to 55 packages ranging from £50,000 to over £5 million. In addition, we have been providing business case development support and strategic programming. Currie & Brown’s team was seconded with the rest of the project team on site. This enabled us always to be on hand to offer ad-hoc cost advice, witness and record issues on site and build a relationship with the trade contractors whereby the objectives of the project were adopted by the whole supply chain. Our standardisation of documents allowed TAG to respond rapidly to funder requests together with a quick turnaround of contractor’s valuations and payment.
“Their first-class understanding of our business needs and drivers, together with accurate predictive reports and advice, fully supported us in delivering this project below budget, on time and to expected quality standards. Their commitment to teamwork, always being available and mindful of value-based opportunities, engendered a spirit of direction, co-operation and confidence within the wider delivery team.”
