Queens Court Reading
The project involved the redevelopment of an inner-city office building to provide student accommodation. The refurbishment involved creating 395 beds together with associated external works, drainage and statutory services.
The site is located in the centre of Reading and is adjacent to a number of other buildings and roads. This presented the team with various challenges including dealing with restricted site area, asbestos removal, derelict building issues, adjacent occupied buildings and main roads.
We provided all pre- and post-contract cost consultancy services and contract administrator duties from feasibility through to post-contract and final account.
Our CDM co-ordinator provided all aspects of CDM advice from project inception to handover.
We also provided lifecycle cost reports to achieve credits under ‘BREEAM 2014 Man 02’ requirements.
Currie & Brown seeks to fully understand the client’s objectives and requirements of a project before tailoring advice specific to these needs. In this project, we provided procurement and contract advice during the pre-contract phase of the project to enable an early appointment of the contractor with the objective of achieving phased completion, with the first phase to be completed in time for the following academic year.
