Blissful Place HK 16 9

An award-winning senior living development in Hong Kong

Our team in Hong Kong recently provided a full range of quantity surveying services on the Blissful Place development in Hung Hom.

This is the third project of Hong Kong Housing Society’s Senior Citizen Residences Scheme. The 29-storey building has 24 residential floors with 13 flats on each floor, while the other five floors house a sky garden, a clubhouse and a residential care home for the elderly.

The project aims to achieve “Ageing in Place”, by addressing the needs of the middle-income elderly in housing, recreation, medical and care services all under the same roof.

We were involved from the early stages, providing the pre-contract estimate and then going on to deliver tender documentation, post-contract supervision and final accounts. Much of the work on this development took place during the Covid 19 pandemic, but we helped to ensure that costs remained under control despite this uncertainty.

Designing with the senior population in mind

To create a quality, worry-free and self-sustaining living environment, the needs of residents have been put first at all stages, from interior fittings and finishes, facilities and services, to amenities in the common areas. The Blissful Place also provides a residential care home for the elderly and rehabilitation services, offering holistic support to the residents and the community. It is hoped that the tenants will enjoy a hassle-free and active ageing lifestyle.

The project is also equipped with the “integrated care link system”, a gerontechnology application. Tenants can receive timely emergency support within the property by simply pressing a portable device with a locator function.

Recognition for the Blissful Place development

This innovative development won the Green Building Award 2023 Merit Award and a Special Citation on United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Organised by the Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and the Professional Green Building Council (PGBC), the Green Building Award recognises building-related projects and organisations with outstanding performance and contributions towards a sustainable built environment.

Jill Kennedy, director in Hong Kong, said: “We are delighted to have supported HKHS with cost management services throughout the project. It is excellent to be part of a project with gives back to the community by addressing the needs of the elderly under one roof.”
