STH Japan, Rugby World Cup Hospitality Pavilion

Currie & Brown was appointed by Sports Travel & Hospitality (STH) Japan as project manager and supervisor for the construction of a temporary hospitality Pavilion at the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Yokohama. The pavilion was located close to one of the main stadiums and was used to entertain spectators before and after each match.

Our role

In the initiation and planning stages Currie & Brown acted as project manager, conducting a preliminary consultation with the Japanese authorities to clarify the implications of such a large temporary structure and to gain an understanding of local constraints. It was important that we maximised the buildable area on site in order to meet the client’s expectations.

Subsequently, we supported the RFP process for selection of the design build vendor. Once the vendor had been appointed we provided supervision and advisory services to ensure there were no discrepancies between local practice and the client’s requirements. This included site supervision until the pavilion was handed over to the operational team.
