Students' union building
The facility, which is split into two buildings, provides a new home for student advisory services and also includes a café, bar, shop and bookable studio space. In addition, there are outdoor landscaped spaces and a courtyard which can be used for events.
The construction phase was undertaken through the university’s academic year. This required close management with the university and their various stakeholders to ensure there were no disruptions to the live campus. With the students’ union being a central element of student life at the university, it was critical that the project was delivered in time for the 2015/2016 academic year. The project was delivered on-programme in July 2015, allowing a six-week client fit-out period ahead of its opening in September.
Currie & Brown provided project management services.
