University Arms Hotel

The University Arms Hotel, an iconic hotel located in the centre of Cambridge, boasts 192 rooms and suites across four floors, with views over Parker’s Piece, historic Regent Street, and the hotel’s inner courtyard.

The main focus of this project was to unite the building into one cohesive unit while maintaining the history that is associated with it. This involved refurbishing parts of the building as well as demolishing, rebuilding and extending other parts. It was key to the success of the high-profile building that the new section married well with the retained section to create a seamless appearance.

Our role

Currie & Brown was appointed to provide project management services. Working closely with the appointed contractor, retained consultants, development manager and client, we ensured that communication lines remained clear and open.

Our attention to detail and collaborative management style enabled the design of this high-end hotel to develop and flow while remaining aligned with the original budget.

The hotel’s prominent location within the historically significant Parker’s Piece made it logistically sensitive -   a risk we managed by creating and maintaining close working relationships with local authority bodies such as the planning office and highway authority.
