Wallumatta Function Centre – Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium
Northern Metropolitan Cemeteries Land Manager appointed Currie & Brown as project manager for the design and construction of the Wallumatta Function Centre at Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium.
The centre provides a high-quality facility for after-funeral gatherings for all denominations. It enables funeral attendees to remain at Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium for post-funeral functions following funerals in the pavilions and chapels.
The Wallumatta Centre comprises a foyer/reception space for up to 200 guests, and five lounges for post-funeral receptions, each with a servery. The lounges have a combined capacity of 350 persons for both seated and standing arrangements, with operable walls allowing further sub-division into smaller lounges. They include high-quality sound and audio-visual systems and hearing augmentation.
The centre has a commercial kitchen for the preparation of food and beverages to service the lounges, complete with a separate dishwashing area, catering office and staff amenities. IT services include an AV hub in each of the five rooms.
The centre’s sustainable elements include a generator for back-up power, rainwater harvesting, storm-water detention and photovoltaic roof panels.
We managed the consultant team to fully document and tender the construction works, including the necessary authority approvals.
We also managed the head contractor to ensure all works were delivered to a high quality and that the client’s requirements were met.
