Located in the most populous city in central China, Wuhan Center is a high-profile mixed-use development.
The 88-storey, 430m-high mega-tower has a total floor area of 321,400m² and is horizontally zoned, with offices on the lower floors, residential apartments above and a five-star hotel located at the top. Wuhan Center is the tallest building in Central China and a landmark in Hubei Province.
Currie & Brown was selected to provide cost consulting services for the project.
Construction of the tower required a fully integrated plan and cutting-edge technologies to address a series of challenges arising from its unique site environment and curved façade design. As cost consultants, we developed innovative techniques to deliver the quantity surveying services. These included accommodating special processes such as the adoption of a soil mixing wall system during the foundation building stage and a sophisticated building information system and air conditioning system for managing the entire lifecycle of the project.
In addition, we have conducted value engineering exercises on main core structures with different combinations of concrete and reinforcement structures to arrive at the optimum solution. The building is designed to LEED Gold standard and our involvement helped to keep the costs at a reasonable level to achieve the standard.
Due to its complicated façade design, we were also actively involved in the selection of the curtain walling system and external façade LED lighting system. The client was able to select a good value-for-money option.
