Currie & Brown begins work on site for the new Inverness Justice Centre

Construction work on the new Inverness Justice Centre has officially started. Currie & Brown is the employer’s agent for the Scottish Courts and Tribunal Service project, providing project management, advisory and principal designer services for the build.

The new justice centre will be the base for a range of justice partners and support organisations which will provide improved and integrated facilities for victims, witnesses and litigants. It will also have new modern court and tribunal facilities, with six new court rooms in total. Each court room will be equipped with the latest digital technologies to enhance the experience for users of the justice system. The introduction of these new technologies is seen as changing the face of justice by removing the need for vulnerable witnesses to appear in court in person.

The new building will also have indirect benefits for the local community. Its location next to the police headquarters in Inverness will mean the courts currently used at Inverness Castle can be closed, enabling the castle to be used as a major tourism attraction in Inverness.

The centre is scheduled to be completed in late 2019.
