Currie & Brown appointed on regeneration of historic Hodge House

Currie & Brown is providing pre- and post-contract quantity surveying services on phase two of the refurbishment of Hodge House in Cardiff city centre.

The Grade II-listed Hodge House is undergoing a £9 million refurbishment to secure the future of this significant building, continuing its rich and varied history. The 110,000ft2 building provides contemporary office space and facilities for occupiers which promote collaboration and flexibility. Phase one was completed in 2020, with phase two commencing in May 2021.

Phase one of the project saw the iconic eight-storey building, owned by Legal & General, restyled by architectural firm Stride Treglown, with Currie & Brown included on the design team. Paramount Office Interiors acted as principal contractor. The phase one renovations won the 2020 Wales Property Award for workplace design of the year.

Currie & Brown was subsequently appointed on the phase two refurbishment of the remaining 40,000ft2 of office space, café and reception area. The current works are targeting achievement of BREEAM ‘Very Good’ and an EPC B rating.

Hamed Khan, associate director in Currie & Brown’s Cardiff office, commented: “We are delighted to be extending our services on phase two of Hodge House, due for completion in early 2022. When fully refurbished, the building will offer unparalleled office space in a landmark building in the centre of Cardiff.”
