Alan Manuel
As Group CEO, Alan sets the strategic direction for Currie & Brown worldwide.
Alan began his career as a quantity surveying apprentice and became chartered in 1987. After working with several Scottish firms, he launched his own quantity surveying and project management practice. In 1999, he joined Cyril Sweett as a director.
When Currie & Brown acquired Sweett Group in 2016, Alan became chief operating officer for the UK and Europe. Throughout his career, he has been responsible for delivering major projects for public and private sector clients. In January 2022, Alan was appointed as group chief executive officer.
Alan champions diversity in construction, particularly encouraging more women to join the industry. He is equally committed to supporting young talent, helping apprentices and graduates take their first steps in the profession. In recognition of his contribution to the industry, Glasgow Caledonian University awarded him an honorary Doctor of Engineering in 2024.
Alan also serves on the executive committee of Sidara.
