A world-class space for childhood cancer care
Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation (GOSH) is the UK’s largest children’s hospital and a global leader in paediatric care and research. Now GOSH is creating a new Children’s Cancer Centre that will transform how young people are treated. We are playing a key role, bringing the clarity and control to make it happen.

A space with a powerful purpose
With the voice of patients, families and clinicians at the heart of the design, GOSH’s new Children’s Cancer Centre aims to transform care for young patients in the UK. Alongside the specialist inpatient cancer services, the new facility includes a complex imaging department, theatres suite, cancer day care, and cytotoxic pharmacy suite. With a new main entrance, a hospital school and rooftop garden, the centre will benefit every child who comes to GOSH.
Our role: certainty in every detail
We’ve been a trusted advisor since 2016. Here’s how we’re helping GOSH deliver with confidence:
- Project management – We’ve worked with the hospital and contractors to plan the build, manage risks, administer the design, build contracts, and keep the project moving.
- Cost management – We gave GOSH full budget visibility, using insights from other major health schemes to guide decisions.
- Healthcare planning – We worked with the inhouse healthcare planners and clinical teams to shape the design so that it supports how they work.
- Specialist advisory services – We’ve provided risk assessments and ensured compliance through NEC supervision and CDM principal designer roles.
We have also worked with the Trust to improve understanding of energy use and help to plot a route to fossil fuel independence. This insight can also enhance indoor environments and patient and staff wellbeing.
Overcoming challenges at pace
A tight site made things harder. The new centre is adjacent to three existing hospital buildings and includes a new main entrance for the whole hospital. With active clinical spaces metres from the construction site, everything has had to be planned and managed with precision.
During enabling works, our teams worked with the hospital and the contractor to ensure the old building (which the CCC will replace) was demolished safely and considerately, limiting impacts on active care areas. We used sealed zones and rerouted systems like air ducts to prevent dust or debris from spreading.
Building with confidence
Construction is now underway. With strong planning and control, the project is progressing with certainty.
