The client's vision

Their key goals were:

  • Turn the Riverside Bar into a trendy Sports Bar for a modern social vibe.
  • Replace the Prime Steakhouse with “Oxbo”, a fresh dining concept to add variety.
  • Move the Executive Lounge from the top floor to the mezzanine for easier guest access.
  • Convert the Yuan Chinese Restaurant into a multi-purpose event and meeting space.
  • Upgrade guest elevators and the fitness centre to better meet today’s health-conscious travellers.
  • Modernise the male and female changing rooms to support the new wellness facilities.

Our role

Our team managed the project from inception to completion. We handled project management, construction management, and cost control.

While the original scope was delivered on budget and met Hilton’s high standards, the added work pushed the final completion beyond schedule and budget.

How we added value

  • Strong cost planning and control kept the project within the original budget.
  • On-site value engineering identified smart savings without lowering quality.
  • We integrated cost consultancy, project management, and contract administration to keep things running smoothly.
  • Early value engineering workshops helped spot cost-saving ideas upfront without sacrificing the Hilton brand promise.

Innovation in action

This was more than just a cosmetic facelift. It was a thoughtful upgrade. We focused on:

  • Creating vibrant new dining spaces guests want to visit.
  • Enhancing wellness areas with modern, comfortable designs.
  • Making guest flow better by relocating key spaces like the Executive Lounge.

Challenges and successes

Scope increases meant the project finished later and cost more than planned. But quality never slipped. The hotel still meets Hilton’s strict standards and guests enjoy the fresh, modern feel.

“We helped Hilton to create spaces where people want to spend time. Every change improves the guest experience and makes it memorable.” Scott Bracey, Senior Project Manager of Currie & Brown.

"Currie & Brown helped breathe new life into the hotel. From fresh dining concepts to upgraded wellness spaces, the project focused on what today’s travellers want."
Tim Tate, General Manager Millennium Hilton
