Scotland's first net zero and digital hospital
We’re helping NHS Lanarkshire build a greener, smarter hospital. The new University Hospital Monklands will be the most advanced in Scotland. It’s also the first to meet the country’s new net zero carbon standards for public buildings. We’re making sure this complex project is delivered with certainty. How? Through cost and project management, BIM, sustainability, and digital delivery. We’re also managing a team of expert design consultants.

Focused on better patient care
The hospital will offer only single rooms, with all the services of a large acute hospital.
We’re shaping the digital strategy to support faster, safer care. Think real-time updates for staff and patients. Simple tools to help people find their way. And systems that link with national platforms.
A big step towards net zero
This is a blueprint for NHS Scotland’s carbon goals.
We’re reducing emissions in both construction and operation. Our experts are using thermal modelling to hit non-fossil fuel targets.
Keeping control of cost and value
We made sure design and cost stayed in sync. That means better value and fewer surprises.
We recommended the best procurement route to attract strong bidders. Then we managed the process so NHS Lanarkshire could appoint its construction partner with confidence.
Building the future
Groundworks have started at Wester Moffat in Airdrie. Construction of the hospital will begin once the final business case is approved.
“Currie & Brown provides an exemplary proactive and flexible service, fully supporting NHS Lanarkshire to drive forward the development of Scotland’s first net zero carbon and digital hospital.” Graeme Reid, MRP Project Director, NHS Lanarkshire
